Scraps of History

Camp Figtree is permeated with history: once the stomping grounds of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick - the owner of the legendary Jock of the Bushveld - it is now the property of Fitzpatrick's great grandson, who also owns Amanzi, Fitzpatrick's former farmstead. Camp Figtree is filled with illustrations, portraits and other memorabilia reflecting the life of this historical figure, his contemporaries and the endearingly tenacious Jock.

Today, the legacy of this phenomenal man and his courageous canine companion lives on in Camp Figtree, Amanzi and the Percy Fitzpatrick Institute - a department of the University of Cape Town.
