Uniquely decorated private guest lodge accommodationCamp Figtree's four Superior Suites and three newly built Luxury Suites offer guests the unique opportunity to experience exclusivity, privacy, and the gracious style of Old World elegance. Each of these spacious suites is uniquely decorated, featuring earthy colours and natural textures accented by richly-hued antiques, Persian carpets, polished wooden furnishings and objets d'art. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, plush four-poster or twin beds with mosquito nets, and private verandas with beautiful views onto the lodge gardens and the mountains beyond. Camp Figtree's infinity pool is magnificently positioned on the edge of a cliff where the land drops away to the valley below, offering breathtaking views onto mountain slopes cloaked with dense indigenous vegetation. The lodge's A Fig Affair restaurant serves hearty, unpretentious fare focused on quality, flavour and wholesome goodness. Dishes range from succulent Karoo lamb shank with sweet potato and root vegetables to deboned whole chicken stuffed with risotto, and are accompanied by home-baked breads, organic salads and vegetables, sumptuous desserts and a choice of fine South African wines from the lodge's exclusive cellar collection. A South African evening is held weekly in the boma - a thatched, open-air lounge with a central fireplace - and offers guests a taste of local cuisine and culture. A traditional dinner is served, incorporating national specialities such as umgqusho (samp and beans), isonka esibhakwe emalahleni (roast bread), ibobotie (beef mince dish) and imalva (a dessert similar to sticky toffee pudding). |
